About me

Picture
As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), certified in clinical anxiety treatment, I have a passion for working with adolescents, young adults and parents. My background includes work in a residential treatment program supporting children and teens that have experienced complex trauma and a variety of mental health concerns (PTSD, attachment, grief and loss, panic disorder, anxiety, depression, and ADHD). I have also been, and am still currently licensed as, a School Counselor. Through my experience in working in the school system (PPS), I have participated in developing 504 plans, facilitated and actively engaged in student success team meetings, and have extensive experience in navigating challenging family dynamics (including divorce and loss).

My passion for supporting those that have suffered from abrupt change, anxiety, loss, non-suicidal self harm and emotion regulation is, in part, a result of my own experiences. As an adolescent I had a lot of anxiety. Some of that anxiousness can be connected to trauma and some of it stems from good ol' genetics and (perceived) expectations. There was a lot about my anxiety that scared me as a kid and it sometimes worried the adults in my life. I grew up knowing that I wanted to help others understand and befriend their big emotions, be it anxiety, sadness, anger, etc and not feel alone in their experience, while also helping their caregivers better understand and support them through their struggles.

I believe that in order to create lasting change, clients need genuine connections and supports across all areas of their lives and I tailor my approach to meet the needs of the people I work with. I use a client-centered approach, utilize mind-body attunement and have training in many modalities including, Mindful Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, IPNB, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and Flash Technique. While all these skills are important, I have found the most vital component to my work is that my client’s feel seen, heard and connected. I believe the best way to connect is to be authentic and genuine and I bring these qualities into my practice.
