As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) intern, I work with clients on finding and increasing a sense of well-being and balance. I work with children, teens and adults on building social and emotional skills, managing anxiety and understanding it's origin, as well as working through grief. My goal is to help you increase the skills that are already working for you, and help you recognize and adapt those that may be holding you back.
I believe in a collaborative approach that includes mindfulness, somatic (body-centered) practices, strengths-based skills and non-judgement. In other words, we will work together to determine your therapeutic goals and the steps to take to reach those goals. We'll explore various techniques and tools that you can begin using right away to help manage anxiety, overcome grief, and build positive relationships.
I believe that by growing the connection between the mind and body we are strengthening our awareness and understanding of our feelings and how they impact our thoughts and overall well-being.
I hold a Masters of Arts in Educational Counseling from National University and a Bachelors of Science in Liberal Studies from Sonoma State University. As a current licensed school counselor, and licensed professional counselor intern, I have experience working with children, adolescents and families who are struggling with self-regulation, anxiety, trauma and social/emotional skills. With my experience in public school I am familiar with the stressors that it can bring - managing homework, teacher expectations, friendship struggles, bullying, time management, and the anxiety and worry that can accompany each of these. I have also worked with at-risk youth living in a long-term residential treatment facility.
