My goal is to work with clients on finding and increasing a sense of well-being and balance. I work with children, teens and adults on building social and emotional skills, managing anxiety and understanding it's origin, as well as working through grief. My goal is to help you increase the skills that are already working for you, and help you recognize and adapt those that may be holding you back.
I believe in a collaborative approach that includes mindfulness, somatic (body-centered) practices, strengths-based skills and non-judgement. In other words, we will work together to determine your therapeutic goals and the steps to take to reach those goals. We'll explore various techniques and tools that you can begin using right away to help manage anxiety, overcome grief, and build positive relationships. I believe that by growing the connection between the mind and body we are strengthening our awareness and understanding of our feelings and how they impact our thoughts and overall well-being. |
Background
As a licensed school counselor, and licensed professional counselor intern, I have many years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families who are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-regulation, trauma and social/emotional skills. Through my experience working in the public school setting, I am familiar with the stressors that it can bring, particularly now during distance learning amid a pandemic. Managing homework, teacher expectations, friendship struggles, bullying, time management, and the anxiety and worry that can accompany each of these, seems to be increasing with this 'new normal' we are experiencing. |
